You're right that there's nothing they can do in the short term, but that doesn't excuse the reality of their gross planetary abuse. The Olympic Committee was blatantly negligent in allowing Beijing to host these games and the world remains negligent in allowing China to skirt the environmental standards imposed on industrialized nations. Kudos to the Aussies for having the courage to shout out that the emperor has no clothes.
