The General Motors-owned Hummer (a notoriously gas-guzzling vehicle) is going eco-friendly. The company has produced a near-zero emission hybrid that is powered by electricity and claiming to have a fuel efficiency of 100 miles a gallon. Compare this with Toyota’s Prius hybrid, which gives only 50 miles a gallon…

The prototype of the prefab home of Blue Sky Homes in Yucca Valley in California, the United States, is now complete, weeks after installing the footings. And the photos of the prototype, released by Dave McAdam, owner of the Yucca Valley, show what one expert described as “an excellent example of clean, efficient, contemporary, desert architecture.”

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have created history of sorts by turning their urine into water and actually drinking it!

On May 20, astronauts aboard the space station drank water that had been recycled from their urine, sweat and water that condenses from exhaled air. What is more, they said “cheers” as they clicked drinking bags and toasted those working on the ground at the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) who themselves were sipping their own version of recycled drinking water.

Two new studies have revealed that more people now face damage than ever before on account of earthquakes, droughts, floods and other disasters. And, this is mainly owing to a sharp rise in urban populations in developing countries.
