Those steam powered boats have already done a lot of damage to the waters, polluting them ever so much and we need to find a way to make them greener. We might be on to something here.

DYI amphibious bicycle made from recycled water bottles

This DIY Amphibious bicycle is made using recycled water barrels and is totally human powered denying any need for energy. Unless you consider what the human must consume to have the calories to burn.

Li Jin uses this ingenious bicycle to cross the water in Wuhan of Hubei Province in China. Her DIY creation is better than even the amphibious vehicles like the (Aquada) and although it may not achieve those impressive readings on the speedometer, what we appreciate is the green intention.

Made using eight gallon bottles of water closed on top to form a safety pontoon to avoid drowning, it is fitted with adjustable vane wheels to power the driving. This commuter is perfectly amphibious as it not only trounces the water, it is an equally good ride even on the ground.

Must say, people like Li are an inspiration that can help other people in understanding the importance of a greener environment. [via EcoFriend]
