Climate change has not only wreaked havoc on the earth, even the waters are witnessing a marked change. Jellies or Jellyfish as we aptly call them are prospering under water thanks to overfishing and climate change. What are supposedly eaten (when small) by sea turtles and other fish (especially the sun fish) are now becoming dangerous feeding on their predators itself.

Giant Echizen Jellyfish
This image reveals another giant jellyfish find — an Echizen jellyfish, which has a body almost 5 feet across. It did not beat the world’s largest jellyfish, Nomura (weighing 440 pounds with a 2 meter (6.6′) diameter) for size, but such regular finds are now becoming a matter of concern.

Sir Paul McCartney, former Beatle, and his family and a few other celebrities have embarked upon a commendable campaign asking people to abstain from meat and go vegetarian once a week in order to help fight climate change. Sir Paul, his daughters Stella and Mary as well as the celebrities have urged everyone to forsake meat on Mondays.

The campaign, named Meat-Free Monday, is aimed at reducing emissions of greenhouse-gases from the world’s livestock population. Livestock is believed to be one of the main causes of global warming.

New York has worked out a plan to meet 45% of its electricity needs from renewable energy sources by 2015. The scheme also would create 50,000 jobs, according to David Paterson, Governor of New York who made the announcement in a speech at the New York Academy of Science.

Wind farms - renewable energy
One of Paterson’s pet projects is developing new batteries required to tap solar energy and wind energy. “Whoever learns to store energy in the United States first will replenish their economy for years to come,” said Paterson.
The entire United States faces the threat of a shortage of food because of the severe drought in California, the state which meets about a third of the country’s food needs.

The farmlands of California are irrigated by diverted rivers and streams that are filled yearly with runoff from the Sierra Nevada snowpack and by pumping of groundwater as well through some other less-reliable methods. But, the snowpack is disappearing fast.
More every day the number of record-breaking hot summer days is increasing. Ice bergs are melting and some geographic regions experience unusual waves of heat.

This trend has created a high air conditioning demand for houses, hospitals, hotels, workspaces and other commercial buildings. People turn to the conventional air conditioning systems; however the problem is only getting worse because the AC is an energy-guzzler.
Sometimes the most simple things can be the key to the most amazing of revelations and can go a long way in energy conservation, ultimately benefiting the planet. A group of researchers from Ricardo-an automotive engineering firm in West Sussex, UK-believe that we are driving our hybrid cars like regular gas-guzzlers.

The main culprit is our air conditioner which stops whenever our car stops in the economy-mode. To get that AC back running, the drivers normally turn off the economy mode thereby switching to the petrol mode which means that the fuel-efficiency factor gets totally ignored.
With the economy declining as it is, Toyota’s belief that it would be able to sell 25,000 Lexus Hybrids within the first twelve months is appreciable. The Lexus HS250 has yet to go on sale (later this summer) and Toyota has some real good reasons to back their belief.

There are various ways to love nature, conserve it and be in touch with it. One of them is a chair designed by Swiss designer Michel Bussien. Bussien simply turned growing plants into a chair so that you can literally touch nature.

The chair “sits” on a rolling planter with willow trees growing from each leg. Russian vine wraps around the willow branches, adding to the effect of greenery.
