China Earthquake Destroys 10,000 Homes
In China, more than 10,000 homes have been destroyed as a result of an earthquake that struck in southwest China.
The quake left more than 300 people injured when it hit Yunnan province in southwest China Thursday evening. The quake was a 6.0-magnitude according to Xinhua. The U.S. Geological Survey gave a figure of 5.7.
The quake happened at 7:19 p.m. (11:19 a.m. GMT) Thursday. The depth of the quake was about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), Xinhua reported.
Tents, medicine and food have been sent
This earthquake comes more than a year after another more massive quake struck Sichuan province on May 12, 2008. That earthquake was a 8.0-magnitude and it killed more than 68,000 people and left nearly 18,000 more missing not to mention displacing 15 million others.
