Greenpeace, in our opinion, is a lot less about being green and nothing about bringing peace.

Greenpeace Banner on Mount Rushmore

The group has a message but no tact when it comes to delivering it. In fact, they are more likely to turn people off than bring people on board.

Their most recent stunt, dropping a banner down Mount Rushmore.

The message — “America honors leaders not politicians: Stop Global Warming.”

“Doing what it takes to solve global warming demands real political courage,” said a Greenpeace USA deputy in a statement.

“If President Obama intends to earn a place among this country’s true leaders, he needs to show that courage, and base his actions on the scientific reality rather than political convenience.”

Our message to Greenpeace. Grow up! You want respect, want people to listen and pay attention? Try not being so radical. It doesn’t work.

Peak Oil has been a theory of immense discussion and though I don’t get much of it, the comprehension that it has something to do with maximum oil production around the globe is ample for me and for the rest of you. I may not understand the basics of Peak Oil, but what I do know is that the global oil reserves are diminishing fast. Indeed, the heavy oil consumption now leaves us at a point where only half of the earths’ oil reserves are left.

The oil resources are diminishing fast and we still haven’t found an apt solution to replace gasoline to power the modern day commuters. But how about a vehicle that only needs compressed air to roll?

Green Speed Air Powered Motorcycle

Green Speed Air Powered Motorcycle by designer Edwin Yi Yuan

Edwin Yi Yuan has succeeded in designing a concept air-fueled bike dubbed the Green Speed Air Powered Motorcycle. It is not an utterly novel concept for we have heard of compressed air powered vehicles before, but this motorcycle has overcome a couple of problems faced by previous concepts — short range and low speed.

GM will soon loose all its subsidiaries-Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC to a government backed company and in the process will shed its debts, dealerships, other brands and its former labor obligation.

General Motors

What once belonged to General Motors would now compete with it in the open auto market. This is the curse of bankruptcy, and had GM not opted for it, even this ‘privilege’ wouldn’t have been available. Moving on from here, GM has a lot to achieve in order to gain firm footing, but the road ahead is tough and the once largest automobile manufacturer in the world, needs a lot of inspiration to reinvent itself.

The natives of Boston, MA will definitely remember the Big Dig Highway project or more aptly the Central Artery/Tunnel Project (CA/T). There were 600,00lbs of refuse for that project which instead of being dumped, has been all converted into an uber stylish modern private house in Lexington, MA.

Big Dig House

It didn’t come easy though as the Big Dig House started as a project with infrastructural waste in 2006 and has now ended up as a plush house three years later.

It is not often that we come across wind powered electricity generation projects that have the capacity of producing 40GW. Surreal as it may sound, but the ‘Three Gorges of the Land’ project being constructed outside the northwestern city of Jiuquan in Gansu Province is capable of achieving such high standards.

Wind Turbine

The achievement will be phased in however, as only 5GW power generation will be in place by 2010. It will go up to 12GW in 2015 and by 2020, it will reach 20GW ,with the installed capacity eventually reaching the magic figure of 40W.

Stop the dependence on oil is the rallying cry.  Are there alternative, alternate fuel sources to oil?

oil war

There are. Here are 12 of them …

  1. Wind poweris a converted form of solar energy. The atmosphere warms differently. Hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth’s surface, and cooler air is drawn in to replace it. The result is wind.
  2. Solar power – concentrating solar power systems, passive solar heating and daylighting, photovoltaic systems, solar hot water, and solar process heat and space heating and cooling.
  3. Tidal power – Energy produced by tidal waves
