Starbucks to Donate for World AIDS Day 2009

Today’s World AIDS Day, and many people are doing what they can to raise both funds and awareness for the disease. One of the companies heavily involved in the fundraising is Starbucks. They have announced that for every hand-made cup of coffee they’ve sold, they’ll donate 5 cents to the Global Fund.
According to Starbucks, even if you can’t visit their stores to help and donate, you can still do your part online, by visiting Starbucks’s website, and contributing a drawing there. By making a drawing on the website, each participating Starbucks will donate 5 cents to the Global Fund. Up to 1 million drawings can be made, so hurry up and do your bid in helping the world fight one of it’s most horrendous diseases.
Starbucks have stated that through their partnership with RED, they’ve raised enough funds to buy over seven million days’ worth of medicine for the people in Africa. The overall amount of generated money has been reported to be about $140 million, all of which are going into various AIDS programs in Africa.
