Honda has just revealed their ultracompact car called the P-Nut (Personal-Neo Urban Transport) at the LA Car Show. The car gives a new meaning to the phrase “small footprint”. It’s designed with compactness all around from its size, to its efficiency. Inside, the seat arrangement somewhat resembles a McLaren, giving passengers great leg room and ensuring a comfortable ride.
The jury questioned the car’s ability to handle on its own, but that’s to be seen in the future. In the back of the car, there’s a blue section which will be dedicated to propulsion, through a number of devices – including a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain or a batter-electric powertrain. The car is still in a concept phase, so if they do decide to go ahead with it, it’ll be a long wait before it actually hits the market.
Honda R&D Americans’s director of advanced design Dave Marek stated that the team’s objective when designing the P-Nut was to create a car that deviates from the current standards, and succeeds where other compact cars fail to impress customers – mainly in design and visuals. We’ll see where this goes, but it certainly is an interesting concept.
