In these days when every kid is obsessed with their plastic and metal toys, good old wood is declining in popularity. This is sad, not only because it’s bad for nature, but it also deprives children of their creativity as well – the flashy toys are so restrictive and never provoke the kind of imagination that a simplistic wooden toy does. Luckily, some creative designers are still thinking in the “old-fashioned” ways, bringing wood back to life with original new ideas.
Hanno the Gorilla is a great example of what can be done with wood. The gorilla is made of beech wood, and its limbs can be adjusted in many poses, thanks to the special elastic muscles. The toy costs $75, but that’s a small price to pay to know that you’re raising your kid the proper way.
Knockin Wood Toys also make great wooden toys, which are all handcrafted. The main focus of the business is trucks, and they come in all shapes and sizes. You can be sure that your kid will love these as a gift.
