elephant sculpture Artist Creates Unimpressive Elephant Sculpture From Discarded Computers

We’ve seen some very talented artists create outstanding sculptures from trash, or from other stuff. This elephant sculpture though, is quite a disappointment, more so, because the artist Joe Carnevale created the amazing traffic barrel monster.

This sculpture though, is no monster, it is supposed to look like the elephant and is made from discarded computers. The seven foot tall sculpture employs bent motherboards for the animal’s back, old speakers are molded to form the trunk, the sturdy legs are made out of discarded computer shells stacked on a pallet, while the tail once used to be some computer’s power cord. An open CD drive functions as the elephant’s mouth, and there are tidbits of keyboards thrown into the sculpture as well.

The elephant sculpture has been made for Purple Elephant, a non-profit agency in North Raleigh. While the idea is good and the execution innovative, the sculpture seems to be missing a few things, and you’ve to strain your eyes a bit to see the elephant in that stash of electronics.
