For all their design goodness and efficiency, train and subway stations in the end have those cold, hard platform to offer. Commuters at New Zealand’s Britomart Station however, got a chance to enjoy a train station that looked more like a meadow, and covered in green grass.

The green cover on the 1,250 square meters of the station though did not last very long, it was meant only for a commercial. It was NZ dairy company Meadow Fresh that had transformed the station for filming and once the filming drew to a close, the entire structure was dismantled as well.

While it was only for a few hours, commuters did get to enjoy a grassy cover on the station. Which, like our friends at Inhabitat gets us thinking as to why many commercial establishments don’t follow the path to a green floor. While some establishments may find the green cover difficult to maintain, others could go along very well.
