The 2012 London Olympics is getting closer, and an interesting detail about the green Olympic stadium has come into the light. As is well known, the London Olympics will have an environment friendly Cloud Tower, but that isn’t the only green thing. The stadium will use recycled guns and knives as construction material.

These guns and knives are all weapons confiscated by the Metropolitan Police Department, and will be molten into scrap metal to be used for construction of the Olympic stadium. The Metropolitan police, and the London Olympic authorities are both trying to lower their environmental impact, and it seems they are doing a pretty good job at that.

Over the last year, the police have collected nearly 52 tonnes of scrap metal from old keys, knives and guns. This is all being sold to be used in the construction, that already has an eco-design to begin with. It’s like hitting many birds with a single stone, and the stadium will come up as a great message bearer.
