Wal-Mart have been contributing their fair shair of trouble to their environment, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be nice every once in a while. Just now, they’ve installed about 5300 solar panels in California, where its Apple Valley distribution center is located. The panels will be used to provide energy to the distribution center, which has quite the hefty needs when it comes to its power supply, apparently.
The power generated from the cells can easily power 175 households, and is currently the store chain’s largest solar panel installation ever. The power generated by it will go directly into the distribution center which spans 1.3 million square feet, and requires about five times the power generated by the solar array.
Wal-Mart are showing definite signs of improvement when it comes to caring about the environment, which is a stark contrast to their previous actions – and we can only applaud them for it, as well as keep an eye on them for a while.
