National Geographic have just released a new application that allows curious users to explore the various parts of the world by using advanced technology and making use of satellite and full zoom capabilities. It’s a great thing for those of us obsessed with exploring the world in various maps.
What sets the app apart from competition is that it uses images from National Geographic’s collection – high-resolution ones with press-release quality that can recreate perfect detail and accuracy, just like the ones found in wall maps and world atlases.
The app costs just $1.99 and allows users to use maps in three different ways – for example, it can display maps like a regular globe. It also supports working with news services to provide details on places where current events are developing, and can also mark places and add user images.
It’s all made better by the announcement of the Apple Tablet later, which means you’ll be able to enjoy the images on an even larger screen.
