Batucada home accessories don’t just have a unique name, they also have a rather unique design, both of which have common roots. A product from Brazil’s Jahara Studio, the Batucada accessories are made entirely out of recycled aluminum and are fully recyclable at the end of their lifetime.
As for the common roots of the product and its name, the Batucada is a percussion beat used in carnivals in Brazil. The same connection also explains the “beaten” looks of these accessories. The range includes products like glasses, lamps, and trays, all of which are hand produced at factories that make aluminum from scrap, making the supply chain more efficient. The Batucada accessories are painted in shades of green, blue, grey, purple, red and golden yellow, making some of them look quite tacky.
Founder of the design studio, Bruno Jahara has spent five years in Europe and worked with some of the biggest names in contemporary design.
