Artificial Floating Islands Make for Pleasing Landscapes
The artificial Floating Islands concept is quite innovative and interesting. As the name suggests, it will be a huge artificial floating island, or more appropriately, a floating garden covered in lush greens. While that makes for absolute pleasure to the eye, this island will include a spa as well, for comfort. The floating gardens/ Spa Wellness Amsterdam is a collaborative project from Dutch designer Anne Holtrop, green technology firm Studio Noach and botanist Patrick Blanc.
Walls and ceilings of the outer hills and valleys find an echo in the interiors. People will find baths, panoramic saunas, and relaxing areas in the interiors while the exteriors will give access to pools, terraces, valleys and hills. The sustainable island would not use cement, steel or bricks for construction, it will instead rely on the more environment friendly (and buoyant) composite GreenRexwall collaboratively developed with Aquahouse GmbH of Germany.
The garden is great for the environment, and the structure uses energy much efficiently too. The sorrounding water acts as a heat exchanger, making the heating/cooling systems nearly 70% more efficient than the conventional systems.
