Syreen concept from Cambridge Consultants rethinks the design and the use of the conventional syringe, and looks for a more environmentally friendly, and less material intensive solution. Changes made to the construction and packaging of the Syreen help to reduce waste in packaging, transportation and the requirement of raw material.
These syringes are made from COP (cyclic olefin polymer), and do away with glass that is used in conventional syringes. The COP construction allows the syringe to do away with the need of secondary packaging, saving costs and material. Unique construction of the Syreen allows a number of syringes to bundle together into a pack, while the outer shell works as the packaging itself.
Use of Syreen results in a 30% decrease in the packaging weight, while a total of 50% space is saved in terms of the volume. It is an innovative design that can considerably reduce the amount of waste that can be attributed to the use of syringes, and still manage to be economical.
