It is all about going green in the skies. Korean Air is bringing in a unique eco-friendly management system in its bid to cut down on the environmental impact of air travel. Korean Air has appointed a pair of ‘Teddy Bear Crew’ to spread the green message.
While the pilot-style teddy has been named Mr. Greene, a flight attendant-style teddy bear called Miss Love, the airline company is lining them up who will act as the ambassadors to spearhead the eco-friendly message. The display will be welcoming the public at the Hong Kong regional office of Korean Air during July 7-21.
To travel around the world, such as China, Korea, London, Spain, Paris, Japan and other possible locations in the coming months, the Teddy Bear Crew would be advocating the green message among the public.
This apart, Korean Air is also lining up measures to effectively manage fuel consumption, noise pollution and carbon emissions. Another effort has been to place orders for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly next generation aircraft, the A380, B787, B777 and B747-8 for high-demand and long-haul routes. By 2011, the A380 and B787, which would be inducted into the fleet would use 20 per cent less fuel. A corporate green team to chart out and implement fuel-saving initiatives is also being set up.
Korean Air is also into efforts aimed at Global Tree Planting, a project that demonstrates continued support for sustainable forestry.
