In an attempt to reduce its environmental footprint, the Californian Bob Hope airport is building a ground transportation hub. Of late several airports have been doing the same thing – which will increase and encourage the use of public transportation and will bring down the use of rental car and shuttle buses.
The City Council of Burbank has approved Bob Hope Airport’s application for building the hub – $120 million has been approved for the construction of the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center.
This will enable travelers coming in by rail, car and bus to converge at one location. The project is expected to be completed in 2012.
