But a new innovation, the Greenerator, a compact solar and wind energy collector is said to offer a solution for the apartment dwellers to solve the issue. This device which mimics to be a high-tech wind chime can be installed on the balconies of the apartments.

It is designed with a vertical axis wind turbine and flexible solar panels to harvest the energy from the natural sources.

The power generated through the device can be used to power a computer or other appliances in the home and according to the designer, Jonathan Globerson; it will be helpful in reducing the electricity bill by 6%.

It is also said that the installation of Greenerator can contribute in reducing the CO2 emissions as the usage of the device will help in reducing the CO2 emissions by 2000 pounds annually.
