Right now the Green Label from SEC provides certification to companies that have products that meet specific international eco-friendly standards. There are 45 categories that cover diverse products ranging from shaving foam to even stationery currently being certified by organization. Now, after seeing how sought after this label is, SEC plans to add 21 more categories to the existing 45.

Reports say that September 2011, products like refrigerators, air-conditioners and clothes driers will be added to its customary list. The certification will be accompanied by relevant information like carbon footprint of the company; pollutants generated during the manufacture of the product, water consumed etc. which will help the customer make a more eco-friendly choice when it comes to choosing his product.

There were 80 products more certified by the council this year than the number that was accredited by them last year. Now, SEC has companies from almost 13 countries, like Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia, who are seeking to get the Singapore Green Label on their products.
