Eat Green for a Healthy Skin

Latest research done by Dr Ian Stephen, psychology professor at the University of Nottingham, reveals that eating carrots and tomatoes could give you a glowing skin. The professor was inspired by Charles Darwin’s Descent of Man, which highlights why people have different coloring.

A research group led by the Dr Stephen, along with his students at the Malaysian Campus University came to a conclusion that eating green makes you more beautiful. The finding shows that eating green increases the carotenoid level, which in turn gives a golden tone to the skin. Carotenoids are antioxidants that reduce the levels of harmful compounds which the skin is subjected to in day to day life.

Students realized that the consumption of fruit and vegetables for two months had a great effect on their skin, making them more attractive.

The glow of the human skin is due to added red and yellow tones. The redder tones are caused when people are flush with blood due to more oxygen content .Consuming more vegetables and fruits gives a better look rather than having a sun tan.

Dr Stephen notes that Darwin’s ‘Survival of the fittest’ theory points out that people with healthier skin tones appear more attractive. This supports the need for consumption of green foods.
