July 26, 2011 / No Comments

Been to Brooklyn of late? If you haven’t, you should. For, the neighborhood now sports a new green-certified Chinese restaurant that promises food devoid of Styrofoam. Welcome to the Michael and Ping’s.

The restaurant is optimized for reduced energy consumption, water usage and waste production in their endeavor to gain the green certification from Green Restaurant Association.

The moment you enter the restaurant, you are sure to note their energy saving schemes, by keeping their cooling cost on low tide. Different from many major restaurants the AC here is sufficed, not blasted!

Head for the menu and you will spot some reviving local and organic beer options, which includes Southampton IPA and Peak Summer Session. The food is ultimately fresh, and as they promise, it is never “frozen and fried,” but always hand-made fresh daily.  Hormone-free sesame chicken and black bean shrimp dishes can make your mouth water. The food waste goes into their in-house compost side.

Other remarkable aspects about M&P include the use of low-flow water spray valves in the kitchen and the use of energy-efficient appliances.

So if you are in Brooklyn by any chance, don’t hesitate to walk into this green restaurant. They sure are waiting for you with a treat. Tell us your experience after a visit.
