There’s a word in the automobile industry for excellent quality; and that word is Cadillac. And, keeping the environment in mind, the luxurious quality of General Motors will soon be seen ruling the road in the form of the Cadillac ELR.
Car enthusiasts might recognize it by its former name of Cadillac Converj, a name given when it was first revealed as a concept in January 2009. The luxury coupe is rolling into the production house as we write this and will be coming out with extended-range electric vehicle technology.
The Cadillac ELR pack’s an electric propulsion system made up of a T-shaped lithium ion battery, an electric drive unit, and a four-cylinder engine-generator, and the car will be using electricity as its primary source of fuel, so no worries on gasoline and tailpipe emissions clogging the atmosphere.
In case, the battery get’s low on energy while on a drive, you needn’t let your heart beat wildly. The ELR seamlessly switches to extended-range mode, which will enable you to drive for hundreds of additional miles in comfort.
The ELR looks fast, powerful and sexy and the package of electric propulsion in a stunning design will ensure the car will have a horde of fans waiting to get behind its wheel.
The name ELR was selected by the company to indicate the car’s electric propulsion technology, plus, it would stay in line of Cadillac’s 3-letter international model naming convention.
Ed Welburn, GM vice president, Global Design, said,
“There’s no mistaking it for anything but a Cadillac, an aggressive, forward-leaning profile and proportion showcases a uniquely shaped, modern vision of a personal luxury 2+2.”
And we agree with that…No mistaking at all!!
