When it arrives at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife, Toyota Motorsports (TMG) will be confident about the powertrain it equips. Toyota has completed unofficial testing, and depending on weather conditions its creation is sure to break the lap-record speed. TMG has declared that it will be selling its electric racer in limited numbers in the very near future.
Rumors say that Toyota is aiming to become the leader in custom racecars. TMG is taking initiating steps to develop various powertrains foreseeing the future of electric race cars. The TMG electric engine gets the motivation from two electric motors so as to deliver the maximum out of 280kW and a top velocity of 260km/h with zero emissions.
TMG has also announced that it will commence sales of the electric powertrain technology dwelling in the racer’s radical sportscars SR9 body in the market by 2012.
This means that consumer will have the racer’s electric drivetrain, and battery, its twin electric motors built by EVO Electric and lithium-ceramic batteries. But the buyers will be unlikely to have the radical sportcar’s racy body and its lightweight chassis.
We are yet to know what will be on the pricing front. We guess the price factor will not be a bar for this limited edition EV for those who looking forward to build their own radical electric racer.
