Ever wondered whether the Chevy Volt is techie stuff or greenie stuff? Well, Cristi Landy, the Volt’s product marketing director, has made it very clear now that Volt’s targets buyers are techies and not greenies.
She admitted that they had talked about this matter lot many times in the past “…now we concluded that it would be the techies, which we confirmed with our first customer surveys.”
She believes that their major task is to educate the masses about their target market. “Our task now really is education, specifically when it comes to helping people understand the difference between a hybrid and a plug-in electric vehicle,” she added.
The company believes that their tagline, which reads ‘it’s more car than electric”, should help them in spreading the word.
Also Volt is presenting its early buyers a welcome kit that contains a pocket sized video camera and a note.
The whole purpose of this is to encourage the customers to shoot videos of their new rides and share those with Volt so that they can upload them into their site and spread the word to other technically-inclined consumers.
