It was only few months ago that  Ford had signed a deal with SunPower to provide a 2.5-kilowatt rooftop solar system with their Ford plug-in cars. Now Nissan has taken the opportunity to delight their green customers.

Nissan is providing, their Leaf owners, a new online content, including a video tutorial that describes solar power systems converting sunlight into clean, renewable power for use in the home and for charging electric vehicles.

“Nissan Leaf owners are conscientious about their energy use, and it makes sense for them to understand how they can offset the power that their all-electric LEAF requires with clean, renewable solar power generated from their own rooftop,” says Brendan Jones, director, Nissan LEAF marketing and sales strategy, NNA.

Though no word has come from Nissan about the cost of this establishment, rumors are that it would be at par with Fords one, which approximately is $10,000.

Empowering your electric vehicles with solar power is certainly an investment worth pursuing. While, that’s what most of us believe, we would like to hear from you what you think about it.
