Daimler Smart to Roll Out e-Scooter in 2014

Close on the heels of announcing the launch of e-bike,  Daimler’s Smart division has announced that an e-scooter from its stables will go on sale in 2014. Looks like the company has more plans in store for the electric vehicle category.

The e-scooter was unveiled along with the e-bike at the Paris Motor Show in September 2010. According to the company, the e-scooter was part of a broader electric-mobility plan outlined in the same motor show. The plan proposed an electric-powered bike as well as a battery-electric version of the ForTwo as well.

The scooter will come with a single-charge range of 62 miles. The electric motor equipped is a four-kilowatt one. This is mounted on the rear wheel. The motor could generate a top speed of 28 miles per hour. Like the e-bike, the e-scooter will also be available for customers who have no driver’s license for cars.
