The i8 concept 2014 of BMW will have its new production version soon. The most important aspect of this concept is its three-cylinder petrol engine. The company has not said anything regarding other features of the automobile.
The engine would be a 220 hp (164 kW / 223) turbocharged three-cylinder machine coupled with a 170 hp (125 kW / 172 PS) electric motor. Thus a combined maximum output of 353 PS (260 kW / 349 hp) and 550 Nm (406 Nm) of torque would be produced.
The car will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds. The top speed would be 250 km/h (155 mph).
The model can travel up to 35 km (20 miles) on electricity alone. Altogether it is an exemplary eco-friendly venture.
It will be built exclusively at the company’s Hams Hall plant in England. The new 3-cylinder petrol engines will enable the future BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car to set new standards for dynamic performance, it has been pointed out by the company.
