Pontiac Gets A Makeover As An Electric Vehicle
A 1939 Pontiacis undergoing an overwhelming makeover. Members of the Electric Club at the Roanoke Collage in Salem are half-way through converting the car they bought two years back for $1500 into an electric vehicle. They expect the process to be completed by 2014.

The major focus is to turn it into an electric drive rather than giving the usual makeover touches. The vehicle will be used for the school’s purposes once it is equipped with a battery-electric powertrain.
The car’s original engine was an eight cylinder one. The model newly painted in burgundy shade was showed off at the commencement ceremonies of the year.
Thus the makeover, though not completed, has already gained attention. The Roanoke, Virginia Museum of Transportation has expressed its desire to exhibit the car during winter.
