Mitsubishi i MiEV Gets 4 Stars in NHTSA Safety Rating

July 4, 2012 / No Comments

Mitsubishi i MiEV got through the crash test fine, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the EV only an overall rating of 4 stars. Other vehicles in the same category like the Chevrolet Volt, Tesla Model S or the Nissan LEAF have earned a perfect rating of 5 stars.

What made i MiEV loss the ultimate grade? It seems the vehicle’s weakness is with side crashes. No other aspects have been mentioned. So we assume that other things are pretty fine with the vehicle.

We also learnt that the vehicle is now available for leasing for $249/month. The model features a high-speed CHAdeMODC quick-charging port.

As per the company norms for leasing, security deposit and monthly payment must be paid during the time of signing. The company has also clarified that the payments are based on an agreed upon value equal to its MSRP of $30,675.
