FedEx, one of the largest courier services company in the world, will test the new 100% Electric Nissan e-NV200, starting this month. FedEx will test the EV in the Yokohama area in Japan. FedEx has already conducted a trial of the vehicle last winter in Europe. Hope this final test would be enough to convince the courier giant to include the vehicle into its fleet. Also, we hope that more EVs would be included into the company’s fleet hereafter.
The Nissan NV200 is already making headlines. It was chosen as the base vehicle for New York’s Taxi of Tomorrow — the exclusive taxi of New York City. Also, it is considered to be one of the best early adopter for electric vehicles.
Electric vans of such categories might not be perfect for long distance travels, but it is just fine when it comes to short distance deliveries or shuttling between two to three places.
FedEx, in fact, desires to make its vehicle fleet 20% more fuel efficient by 2020. According to Masamichi Ujiie, regional vice president, North Pacific, FedEx Express, the company is gradually shifting its delivery fleet to more efficient vehicles in its delivery fleet and increasing its investment in all-electric and alternative drivetrain vehicles.
So we are looking forward to see a transition as well as expansion of electric autos soon. Since we are being flooded with reports of slash in cost of batteries , we can see more of them on roads soon.
