If latest EPA ratings are anything to go by, 2013 Volkswagen Beetle TDI gives you the pleasure of riding a top-end convertible while saving a ton of money at the gas station. According to the ratings, 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is the most fuel-efficient one in the US.
This Convertible features a diesel four-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower. It gives 28 miles per gallon in city and 41 miles per gallon on highways when paired with the six-speed manual transmission. This whopping highway number makes the Beetle Convertible TDI the most fuel efficient convertible in America.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine produces 200 horsepower while returning 21 mpg in city and 30 mpg on highways.
This does not mean that Beetle is unrivalled. In fact with a 34/38 mpg and a combined mpg of 36, Smart ForTwo Cabriolet tops Beetle TDI. However, when it comes to more highway driving, Beetle TDI is the king.
