Emirates’ first sustainable building will soon serve as a base for the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The construction of this building dedicated to the water and civil division of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is scheduled to be complete in a few months time.
The project coming up at Shaikh Zayed Road in Al Quoz is nothing short of massive, and is being undertaken across 340,000 square feet of space.
Going by what Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and MD of Dewa says, the structure is being built with the highest green building standards. In what could be a first of its kind forDubai, the eco friendly design is what would charm onlookers and visitors in the days to come.
The building aims at significantly cutting down energy consumption and also generation of 600 kW of electricity using solar power.
The building is also being equipped with high efficiency insulatives and smart systems. The LED technology is expected to save around 50 percent of energy.
The building is situated near the first Gulf Bank metro station, which makes transportation much easier. The eco-friendly building provides bicycle parking places for around half of the users of the building. Meanwhile, 5% of its parking places are set aside for green vehicles.
