Yo Mobile Launch Pushed to 2015

Hybrid vehicle giant Yo Auto will push back the launch of its Yo Mobile model to early 2015. Yo Auto is the auto division of former Russian presidential hopeful Mikhail Prokhorov.

The delay has come about due to some supply issues from a US-based parts maker, whose identity wasn’t disclosed. In late 2010, Prokhorov said that Yo Mobile will be launched by the end of 2012.

He had then boasted that his company would make 45,000 Yo Mobile vehicles within a year from its factory near St. Petersburg to sell them for around $15,000.

Prokhorov’s Onexim Group joined hands with Russia-based truckmaker Yarovit who was supposed to invest around $200 million in the plant.

Critics believe that Yo Mobile has high center gravity, which will make the car roll over. Some have also criticized its outdated power management and storage method.

Some others have called the car a road hazard. However, it is expected that these little vehicles will give a fresh new look to the Russian streets.
