Toyota has officially released the images and full specification details of their all-new 2013 Auris. This compact sized hatchback will challenge the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. The car maker targets Europe and Japan markets along with the other parts of the world. The car is expected to deliver enhanced dynamics, more unique styling and higher equipment levels. It combines a more elegant exterior and confident interior. The interior is stylized by higher quality materials and a reduction in the use of plastics.
The front end design will bring outstanding aerodynamic performance with a .28 drag coefficient. It will deliver better handling stability and lower fuel consumption.
Though, the Auris is an updated version of the previous model, it shares the same wheelbase of 102.4 inches and width of 69.3 inches. But it has a greater length- 1.2 inches longer.
The new Auris uses high tensile steel to feature a stiffer body which reduces the weight up to 88 pounds.
InEurope, Auris will be powered by a 1.33 and 1.6-liter petrol engine, as well as a 1.4-liter turbo diesel. In the hybrid model, a 1.8-liter engine will be used along with an electric motor setup using a nickel-metal hydride battery.
Toyota, being the first to offer a choice of three powertrains in the C-segment, continues the same in the new model.
The Auris Hybrid will offer Hybrid Synergy Drive system with improved efficiency and dynamics.
