In order to celebrate a decade of the first Touareg Mk1, Volkswagen has unveiled a Special Edition X at the Paris Motor Show. Volkswagen has named the model X, because X is the Roman symbol for “Ten” thus marking its ten years of existence.

The car also will have a hybrid version. The special edition will carry many exciting features and sport luxury specs.

The SUV is dressed in a luscious Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect optional exterior finish, along with standard 19-inch Moaballoy wheels.

Other striking features include a large panoramic slide/tilt sunroof, silver anodized roof rails, bi-xenon head lights with LED daytime running lights and darkened rear light clusters in LED technology, tinted side and rear windows.

The hybrid Touareg is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 328bhp that works in tandem with a nickel metal-hydride battery powered electric motor with a peak output power of 45bhp.

Together, they produce a total of 380 horsepower with 428 lb.ft. of torque. The regenerative braking helps the kinetic energy to power the battery when you brake.

It is perfect for urban mobility, because you can drive on the electric mode when you enter the city.

The Touareg Edition X is available now with a choice of five engine/gearbox combinations, including the hybrid version. The base price for the 201-horsepower V6 will be 61,025 euros.
