Prior to its launch at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, 2014 Lexus IS was exhibited before a few high-profile media. Designed as a mid-size coupe, the car borrows a lot of features from the LF-LC concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January.
We already know that its exterior and interior lines resemble a lot with the LF-CC concept. But, we are not sure whether Lexus will take IS Coupe nameplate or like BMW will it create a new LF moniker.
The car packs an L-finesse design, a spindle grille, LED headlights and a steeply-raked windscreen which spreads through the coupe’s smooth roofline. The new IS models will have a longer wheelbase and a more rigid chassis with the aim to improve the IS’ handling as a way to compete with the new BMW 3 Series.
The interior will feature leather upholstery, metallic accents and alloy pedals along with an infotainment system, a digital center stack and a push-button ignition. Different engines including a 2.5-liter V6 with 200+ bhp (149+ kW), a 3.5-liter V6 with 300+ bhp (224+ kW) and a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder with approximately 240 bhp (179 kW) will be available.
Though there is enough time for molding, we can expect that there won’t be much difference. Stay tuned for the car’s skin to be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
