If you would remember, Volkswagen’s upcoming Volkswagen XL1 was last spotted in August. Now, spy photographers have caught the production version of the vehicle that was undergoing winter testing. This ultra efficient two door vehicle is capable of providing 235 miles per gallon.
The production-version of XL1 combines two engines, a small two-cylinder Turbo Diesel Injection (TDI) engine, and a 30-horsepower electric motor. The turbo diesel engine delivers a total of 30 horsepower. These engines will give power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The exterior of the Volkswagen XL1 looks similar to the concept version. It sports a very narrow rear track. The wheels are covered by full wheel covers that help the aerodynamics and. The skinny tires and inset rear track offers high driving performance.
According to the automaker, the car will have a slippery drag coefficient of just 0.186, and it is better than any other vehicle on the road.
The Volkswagen XL1 is expected to unveil at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and will available for purchase form later this year.
