Year 2012 has been a good year for electric vehicles. Thinking of the success of Toyota Prius, you need to admit that it is not an overnight achievement. The car launched in the market over a decade ago, and after so many years, it has now turned to be the favorite car in road.
But then, what about cars like Nissan Leaf ? Though they haven’t achieved as much success as the Prius, it doesn’t mean that they have no future in the automobile industry.
A recent article form Scientific American says that plug-ins vehicles like the Leaf and Chevrolet Volt show very low sales rates. However, the report also points out that electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are doing better than hybrid sales.
According to the article, Leaf and Volt have been introduced about two years ago, and now they are selling almost twice the number as the Prius did two years after its launch in the US market. Well, this is really interesting.
Electric vehicles offer less battery costs, reduced congestion and almost nil local air pollution. And,, that could be why they have started attracting more customers.
