Formula E, the electric-car version of Formula 1, has announced its Preliminary 2014 Calendar. This time they have announced 8 cities around the world to host the 2014 race. The host cities will include two US cities Miami and Los Angeles. Others in the list are London, Rome, Los Angeles, Beijing, Putrajaya, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro.
Formula E Holdings, the promoters of the FIA Formula E Championship will announce two more races in the near future but the cities are unknown. Moreover, they have also revealed their interest in Africa and Australia.
According to Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings, cities from all over the world exhibit their willingness to host FIA Formula E Championship and it shows a global commitment to clean mobility and sustainability. The organizers are working with selected cities to ensure its feasibility of the races.
Formula E is an open championship, and aims to encourage car designers and constructors to build Formula E car. FIA’s technical regulations have set the standards for making such vehicles.
In 2014, the inaugural year of the Championship, FEH intends to organize up to 10 races. For the 1st championship FEH has ordered 42 cars from Spark Racing Technology (SRT).
The final Formula E calendar will be presented to FIA at the September 2013 World Motor Sport Council.
