Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, has announced the addition of Honda Fit EVs to its Los Angeles fleet. This decision comes as a result of a partnership between Honda and Zipcar in April 2012. With this partnership Zipcar members will get access to Honda’s technologically advanced, lowest emission vehicles.
According to Jeff Shields, the general manager of Zipcar Los Angeles, the new Fit EVs will enhance the sustainable transportation options and will reduce carbon footprint.
At the same time this will provide opportunity for their customers to drive the most technologically advanced vehicles.
The first Honda Fit EVs are located at 6464 and 6565 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood in Zipcar branded parking spots with charging stations. These vehicles are offered to all Zipcar members aged 21+ for hourly reservations which starts from $8.75 per hour.
The Fit EVs from Honda are based on the popular five-passenger Fit and features a 20-kilowatt-hour Lithium-ion battery and a compact 92-kilowatt AC synchronous electric motor to generates 189 ft-lb of torque. The batteries of the Honda Fit EV can be recharged in less than three hours.
