Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart is well known as an animal rights activists and sustainable fashion endorser. This vegan businesswoman has now opened her Vaute Couture, an eco-fashion house that is dedicated to animal free fashion clothing.
Back in February, she was covered by the popular media outlets for her show in New York Fashion Week that featured the animal and cruelty free brand. Her efforts on propagating a world of fashion without animal killings have attracted attention from Farm Sanctuary, the American animal protection organization to honor her.
Farm Sanctuary is hosting the Fashion Loves Animals event on May 4th in New York City and on the occasion there will be a reprisal of the Vaute Couture vegan show, the same show that had made it to the news headlines.
Talking with Ecorazzi, Leanne said it is a big event for her to be honored by Farm Sanctuary. There are a large number of animals being slaughtered every year in the country for food and clothing. Human pleasure comes at a cost of killing animals, she added.
Saying that Farm Sanctuary has always done a savior’s job by protecting and nursing billions of animals, including cows, sheep and chicken. For her, Farm Sanctuary is a window that lets people to see the cruelty we are doing to beautiful animals. Those who are initiated by Farm Sanctuary to choose a different life style will hopefully have great clothing option from Vaute Couture, she remarked.
