It seems that Geely Automobile Group have teamed up with Detroit Electric to bring in electric vehicles and powertrains.
Geely, the Chinese automobile group, had recently revealed an all-electric version of their Emgrand EC7 model dubbed the EC7-EV. It has now come bearing the Detroit Electric Technology badge.
As per reports, the project started almost three years ago and hopes to produce electric vehicles for the Chinese market.
Though detailed specifications haven’t been released as yet, the vehicle will offer a medium-range with a driving range of 165km per charge and long-range options with an approximate range of 258km per charge.
The vehicle will feature an electric motor and a twin-speed gearbox along with an advanced battery pack.
The vehicle can attain a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) in just under eight seconds and will deliver a top speed of 200 km/h or 124 mph.
The EC7-EV is expected to start shipping next year and will be available in China.
According to the automaker, they hope to sell 3,000 units in the first 12 months and would mainly target business and public sector organizations.
