Ford is recalling about 6,308 units of its 2012- 2013 Ford Focus Electric and 2013 Ford Focus ST cars to fix faulty headlights. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration these vehicles are equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights. The NHSTA bulletin also confirms that because of some wiring incompatibility, the front side marker lamps of these vehicles may not function.
Due to the failure of the front side market lamps the vehicle may be less visible in night time conditions, which increases the risk of a crash.
All these affected Focus Electric vehicles were built between September 15, 2011 and May 6, 2013. Meanwhile, the 2013 Ford Focus STs were manufactured between February 16, 2012 through May 7, 2013.
The bulletin also suggests that the recall should begin by the middle of this month. Owners of these vehicles can take their cars to dealers to get the repairing. Ford is offering the service for free and the recall should begin from the middle of this month.
