FIAT Partners AeroVironment to Provide Home Charging Stations

FIAT has partnered AeroVironment to provide home charging stations and installations for its all-new, all-electric Fiat 500e vehicles. Thus FIAT has become the fifth major car manufacturer to join hands with AeroVironment.

The 2013 Fiat 500e vehicles come with a 24-kWh Lithium-ion battery and use an industry standard SAE J1772 recharge connector.

This partnership between Fiat and AeroVironment will allow Fiat owners to charge their vehicles in less than four hours. An AeroVironment charging station can be installed indoors or outdoors. And until now, this home electric refueling station provider has installed more than 12,000 charging stations across North America.

FIAT is the fifth major automaker that has partnered with AeroVironment  Earlier, automobile manufacturers such as Nissan, BMW, Mitsubishi and Ford have united with AeroVironment to provide home electric refueling station to its customers.

AeroVironment will provide a certified, licensed electrician to perform the installation. The whole package includes a SAE J1772 connector so that to fuel up the Fiat 500e’s 24-kWh lithium-ion battery.

AeroVironment designs, develops, produces and supports an advanced portfolio of electric transportation solutions and electric-powered Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

Its do-it-yourself wall-mounted “plug-in” unit is currently available for dealer stock.
