Volkswagen XL1, the world’s most fuel efficient and aerodynamic car, has made its US debut. The car has been released in the country at the 23rd Annual Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) conference at the Chattanooga Convention Centre.
This amazing vehicle offers an estimated European combined fuel consumption rating of 261 mpg. The car can reportedly cover up to 32 miles as a zero emission vehicle when used in all electric mode.
The stylish aerodynamic design of this vehicle also helps in attaining this high fuel efficiency, according to experts. The futuristic design of the vehicle makes the two seater vehicle a charmer and is constructed using carbon fiber, with a low center of gravity.
The vehicle has a top speed of 99 miles per hour, which sounds really great. It can attain a speed of 100kph in just 12.7 seconds.
This hybrid vehicle has a two cylinder diesel engine, each of 800cc, and also boasts a 27-horsepower motor. The car has a Lithium-ion battery to provide plug-in reliability.
The car, which is unveiled for the US audience might gain high popularity due to its nice features which attract every rider. The company officially announced that they will build only limited number of XL1.
VW has said that only 250 vehicles will be available in the market for sale by spring 2014, which will surely make potential buyers to wait longer. The vehicle will be priced around $145,000.
