The perception that a Hydrogen powered car could be ages away is being broken, it seems. Korean car maker Hyundai is expected to start selling its Tucson SUV which will be powered by a Hydrogen fuel cell next year.
When that happens, this Hydrogen powered car could become the first ever mass-market vehicle of its genre in the US terrain. It is likely that Hyundai will get on to the show case its Hydrogen fuelled Tucson SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show too.
Fuel cell vehicles were in the offing, but no one knew this one would come so fast. We have been hearing it ever since the 1960s, and it time till the 2000s for GM to announce one such Chevy Equinox and then in 2005, Honda had hinted at FCX Clarity models.
Car makers like Hyundai, Honda and Toyota were in fact working on fuel cell cars for some time now and it looks like Hyundai has become forerunner now. Hassles in the area of filling stations were big, but it is expected that such issues would get solved soon.
So when the Tucsons hits the market , it would be a new revolution coming up. We also hear that Honda is also readying a fuel cell vehicle for show at Los Angeles, while Toyota might bring one to the Tokyo Motor Show this week.
