When Cate Blanchett took the stage to collect her Golden Globe award for a stunning performance in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, not just fans of the actress were elated. The green activists out there were in fact applauding her for sporting ethically mined jewelry by Chopard.
In fact even Chopard found it encouraging and went ahead to tweet thus: “Cate Blanchett turns the red carpet green in #Chopard diamond earrings crafted from Fairmined gold #GoldenGlobes #GreenCarpetCollection”
By wearing the ethically mined jewelry, Blanchett was in fact supporting the responsible certified miners and their families who follow strict requirements for social development, environmental protection, labor conditions and economic development in their mining communities.
Chopard has been in the forefront of such responsible exercise and expertise, and has already come out with diamonds that have been certified conflict free.
Joining Blanchett with equally green statements at the Golden Globes were other stars too. They included her co-star Sally Hawkins who was nominated for best supporting actress. Hawkins dazzled in a vintage Dior gown.
When celebrities take the stage wearing responsible green statements, they actually hop on to people’s minds by proclaiming to the world that they are serious about helping the planet survive. Let’s applaud them for that.
