With the dawn of the Chinese New Year, it is festivities all around in Far East Asia. With festivities raging, the situation normally turns a bane for the trees and fuel in these parts of the world. It has been found that around 1600 trees and 170,000 liters of petrol are put to use for the industry that brings in wrapping paper during the holiday season in Hong Kong alone.
This huge wastage has prompted Saatchi & Saatchi to think green. In its bid to raise awareness on the colossal waste during the festive season and to kick off recycling endeavors, Saatchi & Saatchi has now installed a machine that works to transform old newspapers wrapping paper that has a Chinese New Year-theme, in just 30 seconds.
Called the “Instant Newspaper Recycler”, the machine has now found a place at the Sun Hung Kai East Point City shopping center.
Anyone can try out the machine by feeding old papers in one end and then wait for just 30 seconds to get fresh wrapping paper.
The company has included three different designs for the wrapping paper too. And they all come sporting a recycling symbol so that the whole region would understand the importance of recycling.
